City Council Setting Its Goals for

On December 18, 2002, the Mayor and Council met to
identify their goals for the upcoming year.
The meeting was facilitated by Pat Callahan,
former Maquoketa City Manager and now a consultant to municipal
governments.
Callahan started the meeting by reviewing the
surveys submitted by Mayor, Council and Department Heads and asking
Council members to add items they felt should be goals.
Following is the list of all items that were
discussed as goals before final prioritizations were made:
- Street Replacement and Financing
- Downtown Strategy
- Sell or Give Away Airport
- Better Utilize Airport
- Adopt Spending Policy
- Review and Update CIP
- Rental Property Inspections and Permits for
Landlords
- Keep Working on ARC/Pool
- Policy for Infrastructure Maintenance and
Mapping
- Job Descriptions/Define Expectations
- Implementation of Visionary Plan and Funding
- Building Code
- Riverfront Development & Rec Trail
- North Street
- Review Financial Spending
- Keep Equipment Updated
- Deal With Storm Water City Wide

- Wastewater Treatment Beautification
