The Residents of Maquoketa Need to
Provide Input To The City's Landscape Visioning
Committee
8-5-02
Residents of Maquoketa had an opportunity to see
the community enhancement concept plans on Monday, August 5, 2000 at
5:30 p.m. at Maquoketa City Hall. The concepts were developed
as part of the Iowa’s Living Roadways Program by the Maquoketa
Visioning Committee and Landscape Architect, Meg Flenker of Flenker
Land Architecture Consultants of Long Grove, Iowa. They also
worked with the Trees Forever and Iowa State University Landscape Architecture
Extension.
The Maquoketa community enhancement concept plans
illustrate how a professional landscape architect and design team
envision how the appearance of the community could be enhanced by
site amenities and landscaping elements around the highways and
transportation corridors.
The Maquoketa Visioning committee would like to
hear what residents like about the plans, who would like to be
involved in committing time, money or other resources to the
project.
A final presentation of refined ideas and images
will be presented at a later date. Additional meetings in the
visioning process will address implementation and funding. Displays
can be viewed at the Maquoketa Public Library and the Maquoketa
State Banks, main lobby and West Side Office.
Contact Elaine Edwards, if
you would like to make comments about the plans or become a part of this exciting
process. By mail: Maquoketa State Bank, 203 North Main,
Maquoketa, Iowa 52060 or email: eedwards@maquoketasb.com.
Other cities participating this year are Anamosa,
Cascade, Monticello, Long Grove, Alburnett, Hiawatha, Nora Springs,
LeGrand, Johnston, Earlham and Stanton. Seventy -nine Iowa
communities have participated in the Iowa's Roadways Community
Visioning process since 1996.
