Local Access Cable Television is about building and
strengthening ties within a community. Public, Educational and
Governmental
(PEG) access television channels on cable television systems serve a
wide range of purpose. PEG channels carry programming that is
not carried anywhere else on the cable system. A lot of people
don't give the local access channels much credit or value. But
these channels are the last place in mass media where freedom of
speech exists and they are the only source of video programming made
by our community, about our community, for our community.
Our non profit organization provides an excellent method of
informing and educating the community about a variety of topics.
Channel 18 is the local government channel that brings you live City
Council meetings, city and county governing body meetings and
educational programs. Channel 19 is our Community Access
channel. Any non-profit organization in Maquoketa with assistance
can make a public service announcement or video program - free of
charge. In this way it is a unique service and only one of
it's kind.
We encourage the public to stop by our studio located in City
Hall. We are looking for volunteers and producers. Please don't hesitate to call the office,
652-2835, fax: 652-2485 or email: maqaccesschannel@maquoketaia.com
