Why Choose Maquoketa?

The community of Maquoketa offers many appealing attributes, the first of which is our citizens. The people of this community are striving to succeed in today's modern economy.

Maquoketa offers a "qualify of life" that would compare favorably with all other communities you might consider. A new recreation center (indoor swimming pool, indoor track, basketball courts, racquetball courts) is in the planning stage, pedestrian/bicycle trails have been built throughout the City with many additional locations to be added in the near future, a new camping facility at Horseshoe Pond is under construction, and a country club with a nine hole golf course was built about 25 years ago. Two new housing subdivisions will offer lots for new home construction with several incentives being offered for new home construction. Three new elderly housing projects will also open up several single family dwellings.

Additionally, the Maquoketa Community School District is highly regarded for the educational system it offers and for variety of programs that it has developed.

The new four-lane Highway 61 interchange is a few hundred yards to the north and the south interchange for new four-lane Highway 61 is approximately 2 miles to the south. The Quad Cities and interstate interchange I-80 are 30 minutes to the South. Chicago is 3 hours to the east, Dubuque is 30 miles to the north, Clinton is 35 miles to the southeast, and Cedar Rapids is 1 hour to the west.
